Leigh Ann Havens, N.P.

Leigh was born and raised in north Mobile County, Alabama on her family’s Christmas tree farm. During college, she completed a missions assignment in Kathmandu, Nepal where she worked with Project Rescue, giving healthcare and aid to women who had spent their lives in slavery with human trafficking. During this time, Leigh felt God calling her to work and minister in the medical field. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of South Alabama. In her first 5 years of nursing, Leigh worked at the University of South Alabama Medical Center, which is the region’s Level 1 Trauma Center. Here, she specialized in recovering open heart surgery patients in the Medical Surgical Cardiac ICU and working with trauma patients in the Surgical Trauma ICU. During this time, Leigh received the hospital’s prestigious Commitment to Excellence Award, and served on the Critical Care Committee and University Health System’s Medical Ethics Board.

In 2009, Leigh graduated with a Master’s degree of Science from the University of South Alabama. Her degree is a specialized Nurse Practitioner degree, with a specialty in Emergency Medicine. Leigh spent her first few years as an NP gaining experience in the operating room, clinic, and hospital, working in Neurosurgery. While working with Neurosurgery, she worked with CyberKnife partnering with a team at the University of South Alabama Mitchell Cancer Institute. Leigh also worked in the occupational health field, working with leading companies in both industry and construction, and has additionally served as adjunct faculty at Coastal Alabama Community College’s School of Nursing, teaching critical care and medical surgical nursing.

Leigh spent the next decade working solely as a provider in the Emergency Room in both Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Mobile, Alabama. Her extensive experience in the E.R. afforded her great working relationships as well as training from many of the region’s best doctors and specialists. Since 2019, Leigh has been working full time in Lucedale, Mississippi at Lucedale Urgent Care.

Leigh has served as a member of the City of Mobile’s Drug Education Council and is a former board member of Teen Challenge in Alabama. She has volunteered at the Home of Grace for Women in Eight Mile, Alabama teaching classes.

At Lucedale Urgent Care, Leigh brings 20 years of experience to provide our patients with a great standard of care.

Leigh says “My heart is in serving the people of Lucedale and the surrounding communities. We truly hope to make a difference in the lives of our patients, and for them to know that they are receiving quality care here at Lucedale Urgent Care.”

In her free time, Leigh enjoys being involved with her local church, riding horses, pursuing her dream of starting her own family cow calf operation, hunting, fishing and most anything outdoors.


Walter Hamilton, M.D.

Dr. Hamilton is a dedicated medical professional with greater than 20 years experience in clinical, hospital, and emergency medicine. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and reared in Centreville, Mississippi. After graduating Cum Laude from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, he earned his medical degree from The Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. He went on to complete his internship and residency program training in Internal Medicine at Boston University. Dr Hamilton served as Teaching Fellow and Acting Chief Resident during his time at Boston Medical Center. Since this time, he has been practicing medicine in medically underserved and rural communities throughout both his training and career. The last two decades of Dr Hamilton’s practice have been dedicated to Emergency Medicine.

During his free time, Dr Hamilton enjoys his time with his wife and children working with their family cow calf operation.


Danielle Gates, N.P.

Danielle was born and raised in Mobile, Al. She completed her undergraduate studies by obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama. After obtaining her BSN, Danielle worked a total of 4 years in both the Cardiac ICU and the Emergency Room. Danielle went on to gain her Family Nurse Practitioner Degree from Troy University in 2017, and Since 2017, Danielle has worked full time with Mobile Infirmary Medical Center as a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner. During this time, Danielle has also worked PRN/ Part Time with Baldwin Emergency Physicians Group as well as Coastal Alabama Community College serving as Adjunct Faculty. We are happy to bring Danielle’s vast experience and knowledge base to serve our patients at Lucedale Urgent Care.
